I have a few questions for those who've installed an engine room fire extinguisher...

1. where's the best location? engine compartment is kind of cramped and I was thinking of putting it on the floor of the engine compartment off to the side (not under the engine)

2. there's a monitor that needs to be wired... the monitor is wired to the ignition as well as the extinguisher... fireboy says to wire the blower switch to the other wire... anybody done this and can explain better?

thanks and if this is the wrong forum please move...

Re: Fireboy extinguisher

The extinguisher should be mounted as high as possible and on or near the center line of the boat with the nozzel pointing down. I would not mount it low in the bildge.

The wire your talking about (assuming you have the automatic engine shutdowm/overide system) connects to the blower ground wire to interupt the ability of the blower to opperate in the event of a fire. You don't want to be pumping fresh air into the engine compartment if there is a fire in there.
