Bottom Paint stripping

I have a 1982 B/R. Previous owner kept it in water and had Bottom Paint on it...I would like to remove the bottom paint without damaging the Gel Coat. What is the easiest way to do this?<br /><br />Thanks<br />Mark

i would first try powerwashing it. if it's old and wasn't prepped properly, you may be able to knock it off. after that, i would go with west marine's peel away (2 kinds, 1 is for bottom paint, so read the can). relatively cheap, and easy to use. pick up the reinforced paper as well that covers the product. don't rush it- let it sit for the recommended time (i think 4-8 hrs).
