Haha! Thanks Stumpalump! At least I didn't bite on the Tracker.

You mean "Cracker." I can't believe the poor workmanship on those things, and they are the ones showcased at Bass Pro. I wonder where the bad ones are?

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/boa/d/reduced-price14-ft-gregor/6366134273.html Gregor is the best of the best. No debate.

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/boa/d/13-gregor-welded-aluminum/6372311927.html Arguably one of the best motors of all time.

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/boa/d/16-ft-valco-aluminum-boat/6370331443.html Fixer up but excellent hull and motor. I had a 16 like it and only sold it because I found an 18"

There are a lot of lower priced small ones as well that looked good.

So, I pulled the trigger on a boat. I've now got a 1980 Gregor U-123, a trailer, and a 2012 8hp Mercury parked in front of the house. The motor is in excellent condition, the trailer is ok, and the boat, well the boat is going to need a new transom and maybe a slow seam leak repaired, but it's mine.

Thanks all for the comments & advice during my search! I'm sure I'll be doing lots of reading on transom repair & other topics in the coming days...weeks...years...

Nice find! There is nothing like a light tin boat with a tiller. With one hand on the hull and one in complete control of the prop you become one with the water. I pity the fools that think a huge heavy plastic couch with power steering is "getting out on the water". Good luck with it.

Yes, a pity. I never knew. I guess I'll sell the 390 Mainship. Here I thought she was getting it done out on the water.

Those are nice. Had a crush on Trawlers for years. Looked at 37' in Ft. Pierce Florida this month and had a great chat with the owners. Wanted to show the wife all options before I buy a 25 or 26' CDory, Rosbouro 246, maybe a ranger tug. All our freinds have big RV's but we use a 4x4 E350 van and are used to small. They plane and cruise very slow. Not quite trawler speed but slower than most. You know how most don't "get it " when it comes to your trawler speed? A tin boat with a tiller is similar.. Ha ha funny thing is th OP's 8hp tin would probably out run the both of us and don't forget a lot of those trawler forums mention the good times in the dingy for a reason. They are just plane cool!
