Just inherited a Sea Nymph 14R that's been sitting in a barn for 12 years. It is very good condition. I tried to get some specs on it but couldn't find much. I was surprised to find out the 14R is called the Big Water. Why is that? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

The R in 14R stood for Rugged Duty. The Model Name was Big Water 14. They were so designated because they were the largest of their utility boats, i.e., wider beam and higher freeboard vs. the other models of the same length.

CL 13'8", beam 62", bow ht. 30.0", transom wd. 54", transom ht. 16", persons cap. 590 lbs., wt cap. 830 lb., hp cap. 25, hull gauge 0.051", approx wt. 175 lbs.

Ours is a 1964. Don't go over 18HP, it can't handle a 25 safely. They are prone to rib cracking, but a sistered rib will make the boat last for years.

A good, new rib placed next to the old, damaged rib.

Not to be confused with a spare rib...that's what you eat ;)
