Hello
I'm getting new gauges this week. I have the dash panel pulled out and would like to replace the panel with wood. Has anyone ever done this? What type of wood and finish should I use? I've seen plastic wood grain panels on the internet. Is that a better way to go?

Thank you

Sure it's been done before. A pic of what you have could help for ideas.

I re-did the one in my old CVX16 out of teak. Pretty simple dash. Think I'd recommend not doing that and going with a plastic or other man-made material of some type,

I used 1/4" oak plywood, stained and sealed with three coats of spar polyurethane.

I covered my Reinell moulded plastic dash with real burr walnut veneer. Bonded with contact adhesive and then given about twenty coats of polyurethane varnish!
