Any suggestions on dealing with ash on my boats from the fires near us

I'm very near the fires in Oregon. This morning we woke to yet another layer of ash on everything. I am forced to keep both of my boats outside for the moment. I don't know if I'm better off washing them or leaving them alone until the fires contained or some rain shows up. Thinking washing them may just leave a wet surface for ash to stick to. I'm concerned ash may be caustic.? At least to some degree.

When the proper PPE when blowing the stuff off, you really don't want to inhale it

I was a wild land firefighter for 18 years the gov't told us there was no harm from breathing all that stuff in, your body flushes it out.
