Help me name my 17' Center Console. After much discussion with the family, I'm down to two finalists.

(Although your ideas are also welcome, even if just for a laugh!)

I only named one: 1972 new 18' Caravelle Tri Hull bow rider, 125 Johnson, Turquoise in color....."Squirrel" cause she just scampered around.

Hmm, maybe it'd help if I explained why I am considering these names...

HANA PA'A is an expression I learned in Hawai'i, it is local slang for "connected" or "hooked up," and it's what the islanders say when they are on a fish.

KELP KING because fishing the kelp here off San Diego is my favorite kind of fishing, and I'll be King of the Kelp in this boat.

If it was up to my wife, it would be called SOLD

Nah, she got to name the kids. I get to name the boat! Well, me and the kids, and it's a 2-2 tie right now!

I lived in Hawaii and feel that naming things in Hawaiian not in Hawaii rather specious. OTOH, I used to scuba dive the kelp beds near San Diego and think that relating to them with a boat's name more appropriate.

Yeah I agree, Kelp King unless you fish in Hawaii it's sort of lost in translation for us main lander types.

Maybe name the boat your wife's first name followed by your last initial (like MaryW) or similar.....makes wife feel more connected/happy with the boat in general....maybe she even begins to Like riding in boat with here name across the transom.....worth a try!!!....
