Garmin manual implies that you can back up and restore waypoints to a data card. 2 cards came with 2006c when I purchased boat. Top card is "Bluechart." Bottom card is labeled "GMZ502L." I don't have a clue what "GMZ502L" does, other than perhaps it is a data card to backup waypoints. Has anyone ever backed up to and restored from a 2006 data card?

The GMZ502L is your map data card. Doubt there is enough room to back your way points up on it.

You need a blank data card and a card reader. Both have been obsolete for a while now. I'd check on Ebay

There are also programs out there that will back them up via the NMEA 0183 serial link

There were a lot of issues. One was the fact that the 2006c OS had never been updated. A member had access to to 32 bit PC operating system and downloaded the latest and greatest 2006c software from the web and them updates the 2006c.. He then loaded my 740s waypoints to the 2006c.
