Does anyone know how far a carolina skiff 1980 semi-v is suppose to sit in the water? I'm trying to figure out if there is any water in the hull. Whoever had the boat before me didn't seal the holes for the console, cooler, or cable cover. It screws right into the deck letting water in, or I would think it would.

1980 hull, does it show evidence of sitting outside uncovered?

If so, more then likely, yep, water...

The hull is model 198 semi-v. I drilled a small 1/4 hole in the transom at the lowest point in the back to check and no water came out. Then re fiberglassed it. I know it has a bunch of cells inside. One every 6 inches I think. Have any ideas on how to check each one? The year is a 2001.

IIRC, that hull is foam filled, so if its gotten wet, the foam is likely to hold most (or almost all) the water and have very little (none) drain out thru a 1/4in hole.

Do you have a front yard? Slide the skiff off the trailer on to tires in the yard. Take just the trailer to a scale and weigh it. Reload the boat and take them both to the scale.

The differemce between the 2 is what the boat weighs.

Compare that to the weigh when new:

Hard to know otherwise
