Hey guys,

I am returning from vacation in Michigan to my home in Chicago and my trailer hub let go!

I am in Alsip right off off 294 near the lighthouse church of all nations.

I have no tools and cannot find any local stores that have hubs in stock.

Does anyone know of a safe place to store my boat for the night?

I will come back tomorrow morning to fix the trailer.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks guys,
Jason

Call a wrecker to take your boat/trailer to a secure place for the evening....then deal with the axle/hub in the morning.....wrecker might be $100 but cheaper than your boat stolen and stripped.....

That is what I was thinking but they want 500 or more to tow to my house depending on traffic.

My issue is finding somewhere secure to leave it locally.

I took the hub off and the bearings are seized to the wheel. It will need an axle beam and hubs. I have no idea where to get that locally.

I would still recommend having it on a roll back.

I could not find a tow company with a long enough flat bed to move me tonight.

A local business operator was nice enough to let me park inside his fenced in property.

Now I just need to find the right parts to bring tomorrow. I hope I can chisel off the old bearings and get by with one hub.

If I cannot salvage the spindle, I have no idea where I will find an axle beam as well.

Tow truck with wheel dollies would work fine for a single axle trailer.

Where would you place the dollies? They can't go under the wheels.

Unfortunately, I do not think there is a tractor supply or equivalent nearby. Would Napa carry trailer parts?

As the others have said Northern Tool has all manner of trailer parts. Leaf springs, axles, tires etc..

Regardless of what parts you need, keep in mine your in Chicago, with a little searching you should be able to find any thing you need.
GOOD LUCK, and once you get things fixed, don't forget to repack those bearings once in a while. I suspect you won't. ;)
