I have another dumb question? I think this will be ok, but I think it's better to ask first. So is it ok to run the engine with the ear muffs on and shift it into gear? I had a new shift cable installed it always stalled before and I want to make sure it's fixed! Thanks.

Can't speak for others but I run my motor and shift the gears every two weeks while on muffs on my trailer. Seems fine to me.

No problem as long as the drive is not up and you don't rev the snot out of it.

Shifting and stalling will act differently on muffs versus in the water

Yeah go ahead, Then at the ramp, start it and try it when in the water under load. Just as long as you are not blocking the ramp for others to launch.
