Bayliner fuel tank replacment

So I just picked up a 90 Capri and was told there's a small leak in the fuel tank. When u open the middle hatch u can smell gas. Is there anything I could check before cutting the deck? Is there any good places to get s new fuel tank?

Smelling gas and its not coming from the fill neck or the outlet tube, you have to cut the deck

These guys sell tanks to order, they cost but do a nice job

I was reading that the plastic tanks give off a gas smell. It's not that strong but if you stick your head in the middle storage compartment u can smell it. If u stick your head by the drain hole in the engine compartment u don't smell it.

I've heard that also, but there should be a difference in the smell. If its plastic maybe so, if its aluminum there is no chance.

What about the sender? Are the screws tight enough? Maybe fumes coming thru the gasket....
