Pin style seat pedestals

Looking for an offset seat pedestal and notice different style pins. One is just a plain pin (as I have on my present pedestals), one with threads on the end and one with a retention clips. My question is are they interchangeable? My bases are not threaded and I don't know if they are short enough to utilize the retention clips. Most of the offset seat posts I have seen online have the threaded ends.

Clint I would think about replacing the bases to accept the screw in pedestals that are widely available.
