These are backed with washers and nylon locknuts. I don't recall the layout of the 89 38. I believe that most Carver Aft cabins placed the stern cleats in the corners of the aft deck above the aft cabin. (Horrible spot IMHO). You'll need to go through the headliner. I believe one will be in the back corner of the aft cabin head. Are there lockers in the corners? If so, you should be able to cut through the headliner in the top of the locker. Does the headliner affix as a panel in that model year?
