Anybody freshwater fish the Hampton Roads area? Without giving away your "favorite" fishing spot, any recommendations for good bass fishing? I live in Suffolk and I am outfitted for the local lakes (9.9 hp max)

Try the Blackwater River below Franklin (public landing in downtown Franklin..Barrett's Landing) and the Nottoway River below the U.S. 258 bridge (with a public landing). Follow the Nottoway downstream from 258 and it will joint the Blackwater to become the Chowan N.C.).

Log on to Google Earth (maps) and follow both rivers inland and you will see many likely places. Several public landings along each river. This time of year Speckle (Crappie) and Redeye are the hot ticket.

Been on the Nottoway already this Fall. Did pretty well, caught 3 largemouth. Did not go downstream though, always went back under the RT 258 bridge and headed upstream. Will head towards NC next time. thanks for the info....

        Speaking of the Nottoway.....

U.S. 58 to Franklin, exit at Armory Drive (Rt.671), left approximately 3-1/2 miles to small public ramp. Downstream opens nicely for wider river, upstream has many switch backs and deadfall....Go Slow!

Business Rt. U.S. 58 INTO Courtland, between the Lutheran and Methodist church's (on left) drive through the grave yard to a small public ramp. This is Jon boat country so go slow due to sand bars and many dead falls. Up steam opens after many twist and turns, downstream gets kindly hairy for in-experienced!

Again, check out Google Earth !!
