rod holder on stern question

Has anyone ever used the Cabela's 8 tube rod holder? It uses a boat seat base to hold it in place. I ordered a wedge based one and hope to mount it over the engine cover and have the rods nice and neat as we are under way. They look like the rods should stay in place and it would appear to be a tangle less system. It has 4 tubes in front and 4 on the back with a seat post to mount. Any one ever use one? If this works out I could have the walleye rods, musky rods, and lake trout rods all rigged up and ready to go.

Re: rod holder on stern question

I lay my rods down against the sheer under the gunnel. Used to leave stuff in rod holders, but two years ago I had one magically jump out and disappear in 40' of water after I crossed a good wake. So I don't do that. That's my take anyway.

Having said that, I wrap my line around the rod and always have a bunch of rods ready to go even without them in standup holders.

My 2/100 of a $
