Lake Rousseau is also a reservoir. was it a surge water that killed off the fish or something else?

Looks like it was due to post-Irma flooding.

Meanwhile, dead fish continue to show up in the river and along its banks due to flooding.
Fulkerson said fish kills are a natural effect of flooding. Water is flowing out of the wetlands and sloughs that contribute flows to the river during high water. As these high flows enter the river, they bring decaying plant matter that depletes the natural oxygen levels in the river water. It also causes a bad odor.

Just came back from checking out Lake Rousseau. The water level is noticeably lower. Stumps which are normally below water level were clearly visible above the water. Some a foot a more above.

The smell was... uhh... not pleasant.

I have not noticed very much in the way of fish kill at all in So. Flo. The first few days after the storm were bad for fishing, but as of right now the fish are hitting pretty good.

South florida had plenty of rain to keep the toxins from building up like Rousseau.

water flow near the dams in many of the lakes in the middle of the state is so fast that you cant use a power pole
