i bought a boat last summer with an suzuki outboard, believing it to be a 1985 motor (according to the seller).
we managed to make two trips before the gear case broke down.
when i went to the local boat shop and wanted to get it fixed, the mechanic told me, after some investigation, that the motor was in fact a 1977 motor...
he told me, that it can be fixed, but it will cost, so his advice was to find a replacement gear case instead.
he and i have tried since last september to find i used gear case, without any luck.
i haven't given up yet and i'm trying to figure out if i can fit another gear case one the motor instead.
so my questions are:
does anyone know where i can find a gear case to a 1977 suzuki dt50 motor?
would it be possible to fit, for example, a gear case from 1978-1984 on my 1977 motor?
is there by any chance a gear case of different brand that would fit?
I'm greatful for any help or ideas!
