I'm rebuilding the lower unit on a YAMAHA 200TLRP. I've purchased the Clymer manual which has great pictures and info, but one question. it says to torque the bearing carrier spanner nut to 140 ft lbs. OMG! serious? is there anyone on here that has resealed their lower unit and gone with a slightly softer torque spec? this just seems outlandish! thank you

This would be the big goofy looking nut behind the propeller.

Well, I spoke with some local marine personnel today, and they told me 92 ft lbs was the magic number. That, I can live with. I hope this posting will help others
