I'm looking to re-power my waterfowl ride before fall. It's a 16'x48 Jon boat. Currently running an 89' Mercury 20hp 2 stroke w/ electric start. I've narrowed it down to just two, 4 strokes in 20hp. The Suzuki DF 20A and Tohatsu MFS 20. Both short shaft with electric start.
Can any of you that own either please chime in. I'm concerned about the Suzuki having "plastic" parts. Someone told me it uses a lot of plastic in areas were it would normally use aluminum. This is what I would like to clear up since I'll be using the motor in below freezing temperatures. Plastic becomes very brittle when cold.
