Yamana steering bracket failure

The steering bracket on my Yamaha 175 gave way. My mechanic tells me, he'll have to remove the powerhead and find a mid section from another motor in order to solve the problem. Has anyone found a safe solution to this problem that doesn't involve like $500 just for labor?

I would say you will get better responses if you were to post some pictures of your problem so we can see what you are dealing with ...

That is cheap to repair that problem.

Capt. Ken: Many thanks for your reply. I get the idea, and will probably sell the powerhead and maybe the foot, to recoup a small part of the investment so far in somebody else's problem! I appreciate your candor!
