1984 Yamaha 70 hp Lower Unit Removal

I am trying to drop the lower unit on my outboard to replace the water pump. I know in many Yamahas the shift rod disconnects in the midsection. I have a 1984 70 hp and the model number is 70ETLN. Where can I disconnect this and what do I need to remove or do to get to it? Thanks, Jeff

This motor I don't believe there is anything that needs disconnection. There is an upper and lower shift shaft that is splined and just will slide apart when you start to lower the lower unit.
