I have learned my way around a Mercury 150 this past year. Thinking about buying the Yamaha service manual and doing 300 hour tuneup myself. Any tips or suggestions? Any comparison to working on the Mercury or getting parts? 2007 70 HP 2-stroke.

I personally find Yamahas pretty good to work on. I've done a full rebuild on my 50HP four stroke and many services on my little 15HP two stroke. I got both service manuals from http://readmanuals.com for about $8 each and get all the part numbers through this site: http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Outboard/parts.html My four stroke is a 1996 and I didn't have any trouble getting any of the parts I needed for it, although I will admit some where a bit pricey. For what it is, the exhaust manifold was criminal, but that's boats.
