1994 Yamaha 25 warning light

Okay so I have a 25hp Yamaha 1994 2 stroke, the engine gets used about 2 to 3x a week. Ive owned it for over a year and have had no issues. The first time the oil/temperature light came on weeks ago, the oil was low so i filled it up and problem solved. (this is the auto injection models, with the canister in the engine) Now for the past couple days when I try to run full throttle the light comes on and slows me down to an idle like it did before. It allows me to run from idle to almost full, but once I reach full the light slowly comes on and I have to slow down....Any thoughts? the engine does not seem hot at all and the oil is full? any help is great Thanks

change the water pump and thermostat
If it still does it test the temperature switch to see if it operates in spec

Thank you, The water pump should be good it pisses like a champ, my mechanical skills are pretty low, is there anywhere I can find how to locate the thermostat and test the temperature switch??
