Hi I am looking at a yamaha 55 outboard that needs a repair on the gearcase.
I know the smart money is on a weld repair i'd thing..
I know the smarter money is on a new graces but...
Would there be a problem rising and repairing it with chemical metal?
Ive used on a car gearbox and radiator before with no problems it even lists it as a use.. The gearcase itself is fine and goes into gear etc ok...

I believe that gear case is toast....looks like the saltwater got inside that bearing carrier, corroded and expanded, breaking the case.....you'll need to find a used/replacement....

Don't believe JB Weld will give you what you want......I wouldn't want to have to rely on it 15 miles down the river at wide open throttle....
