My 2005 F115 Yamaha starter works intermittently. Solenoid clicks but will not send current to the starter. Can I purchase just the solenoid or do I have to buy the whole starter assembly?

I'd check battery, cables and all connections before buying a new solenoid....outboards are notorious for corroded connections...

I agree Robert Graham. I would remove all battery connections and connections at the solenoid/starter. Clean them with a stiff wire brush even if they don't appear to be dirty. I would tighten the connections firmly. If the problem still persist, perform a load test on the battery. Then start looking at the solenoid and starter.

You can buy just the solenoid but if you check the price of the complete starter, you will find its not that much more. Yamaha wants to sell you the complete assembly and not just a part.
