Susuki outboard motor problems?

[Just boating newbie]

I have read a lot about a problem with 90-149hp susuki outboards and since I am totally ignorant about outboard motors would like some advice and help from those knowledgeable out there. I have been looking at a boat that has a 140 hp 2006 susuki 4stroke outboard on it. I have read about a plug corroding and causing a lot of problems but it looks like this is in salt water. Does anyone know about this? Also the motor has 1200 hours on it but I'm told they are mostly idle hours isn't this a lot of hours even if idle hours? Please someone help me I am new to boating and don't want to buy someone's problem!
