DT140 1986 suzuki cooling senson question

how can I test this sensor. can I bypass it somehow.
I am thinking its not working right and activating my over-rev system causing my engine not to go over 3000rpm

Are you talking about the heat sensor or the thermostat. I have a DT65 and I believe the sensor is there to warn of overheating..

I was told that it also activates the rev limiter on the DT140 if it reads that its overheating. so if its defective on mine it maybe the reason why I am only getting 25MPH when I should easely get 50-60 MPH
