My 6hp 1994 Yamaha outboard usually works great and always starts on the first or second pull. Today, I tried to start it and it took 15 pulls and it ran for about 20 seconds and then acted like it ran out of fuel. I repeated this three more times and gave up. I thought that the fuel may be bad, so I drained the tank and then I heard something rattling in the metal tank. I shook it out of the tank and it looks like some kind of plastic valve. It is round and about 3/4 inch in diameter and about 3/4 inch long with a rubber flap inside it. I have been trying to figure out what it is online with no luck. What is this thing and can it be fixed/put back in place? Thanks.
