2008 Yamaha 9.9 4 stroke carb problems

I have 9.9 4 stroke and the accelerator pump continues to lodge in the cavity. The engine has barely been used probably less than 10 hours. When the pump is locked it starts but won't run above idle and then very erratically. I was able to remove the pump, slightly emory the piston on the pump and could feel no burrs. It just locked up again today. The accuator rod almost seems to long as it initially held the piston to the bottom of the bowl. When the problem occurs, the accelerator pump rod cannot be moved at all until the bowl is pulled. Thanks for any advice.

Not sure if your talking about the carb or the fuel pump here. I have a 2012 9.9 four stroke but am not familiar with an accelerator pump on it?? Sherm
