Trim problem started last summer and has been the same since then. I have been putting off the inevitable of buying a relay for it since they are expensive.

Here is what is going on. I have 3 tilt/trim switches on the boat. One on the bow, one on the throttle, and one on the motor. The one on the bow works 100% of the time both ways, the one on the throttle will only trim down, the one on the motor will only trim up. Sometimes the throttle will work both ways, more not working than working.

Anyone have any clue if this is a switch problem or relay problem? I know the motor is good, tested it with the wires reversed and normal connected straight to 12v.

Thanks in advance.

If one switch works properly all of the time then the relay and motor is fine.
You have 2 switches that have a problem, or there is a connection/ wire problem
