Opinions on the 02 Yamaha 250 vmax 3.1l efi. ox66

I am considering purchasing a 02 skeeter zx 20 with a yamaha 250 vmax 3.1l efi. ox66 motor. I have never owned a fiberglass fishing boat. I know very little about Yamaha outboards. Any info. on their reliability, maintenance, etc. would be greatly appreciated. The asking price is 18,500. normal wear and tear on gel coat. of course says compression check was good. I will have a mechanic look it over before buying. I was just wondering if there were any known problems or things to watch out for. Hope Im making sense. Thx. in advance, Dennis

might look up exhaust stack corrosion, or was that on the 4 strokes:facepalm: only

That was mostly on the four strokes but I would have the diagnostics performed to see if there is any sensor acting up also it will give you the honest hours on the engine.

Thanks guys, the owner says two places have tried to get the hours. They can't get the hours for some reason... Is that normal?

An OX66 EFI motor does not log hours.
