I have twin 115 HP 2008 (4 stroke) yamaha outboards. The RPM gauge on one of them sometimes is way off as well as the trim indicator. It is time to take it to the dealer or this is normal?

Two different problems. See if the trim switch cam is broken on the front of the motor. Older ones had the plastic cam that broke all the time. As for the tach, if it use to read correctly and not it doesn't, then the tach is bad more than likely.

Does this mean that sometimes the tach and the trim read correctly and sometimes they do not?

Good catch 99yam40. I get to reading too fast at times. If its intermittant then it could be a bad ground.

Do this, behind the instruments, swap the wires on the two tachs. That will tell you if it's the tach or something with the engine. If the same tach acts up, it's the tach.
