Tomorrow I will go to see and maybe buy the above mentioned outboard with remote control ,electric start and alternator, to use as a trolling kicker for a 19 foot Starcraft Islander on Lake Ontario. What should I be aware and/or beware of with these outboards?
Is $ 450 a reasonable price if everything looks decent ?
Thank you Rolmops

Did Yamaha even make a 4 stroke 9.9 27 years ago?
if so that is an old motor, only worth what you are willing to pay for it
Make sure you can remove lower unit and other bolts as it is not worth anything if you can not replace parts if there are problems
and that the motor runs well at all RPM ranges with a load on it in the water on a boat
and compression or leak down test shows it is sealing properly
lower unit oil is good
Many years ago I always saw it as $100 a HP new but have no idea what they are worth today
