06 yamaha f150 oil change

I changed oil on my 06 yamaha. When I took the drain plug off there was no gasket on plug. The kit I bought came with one. Do I need to put that gasket on. The perdon that owned boat before me alwsys had a dealer change oil.

The drain plug needs to have a gasket. Check the oil pan to see if the old gasket is stuck to the pan.
