Suzuki 4 hp

Considering buying a Suzuki small outboard I saw at a yard sale today. Owner has no idea of year. Model is DT-4. Serial number is 00402-505105. My search shows 1987 but another site said 1997. Many thanks if someone could let me know. It looks in pretty good shape (i.e., not a really old one).

Hi 99... thanks for the info much appreciated. Do you know where I could acquire a shop manual (how to fix) as opposed to just a parts manual for this engine?

Brownspoint.com sell parts and manuals and so does this site, but the ones here are Seloc.
There is a place on top of this page that you can click on for Suzuki manuals

But it looks like it does not list for 1985

I would go to here as it is listed 1985 to 2000

Hi, I stumbled upon this, and well it is an active thread and I have a similar question I was hoping someone might help me with. I recently purchased a DF2.5 Suzuki, and while it was advertised as being 2012, I think I might really be a 2010 or 2011. Can you please tell me where i might find this info? Serial pays says: SUZUKI: DF2.5 and right underneath: 00252F-121712

I think the 00252F designation means it is at least 2011 or newer (is this right...?), however, how to know exactly what year from the above serial number. Thanks
