yamaha 200hp ox66 alarm?

1999 200hp yam ox66 fuel injected on 21 duel console.while driving at WOT for about 90 seconds(5000rpm).motor began to cut out and idle down. steady alarm.i slowed to idle and let motor run for 1 minute.alarm still on so i shut motor off. after 2 minutes i turned motor back on. no alarm.went back to dock bout 3 miles away at 1500rpm.no other problems and cool water came out of pee stream. i assume it needs water pump or thermostats but they are only 15 mos old and have bout 65 hours since replaced. Any ideas ?? should i take out and run again before seeing mechanic as mabey i pulled in some debris.........thanks in advance for any help!

Sounds like oil level swith got stuck and the computer put the engine in safe mode.

run it with the hood off to see if the oil tank on the side of motor is staying full, could be a clogged oil filter coming from main oil tank and not keeping up on oil causing this

did you look at your gauges to see what they told you when alarm came on?
