I have a 2004 with approx. 800 hrs. Beginning of the summer I has quite a bit of gas in the oil. I paid a mechanic to take apart and clean carbs, changed oil and it seems to have helped quite a bit. I have noticed the older my engine gets it will smoke on start up then quits smoking after I run it. It runs fine and full throttle tachs about 5500 rpm and runs about 35-37 mph. Yamaha said slow trolling and running at idle can cause a lot of this. I have heard some say they change to a hotter thermostat so the gas burns off quicker, but Yamaha will not give an opinion. They mentioned ring free but that was a waste of $30.
Current thermostat is 67F-12411-01-00 (60 degree C)
Do anyone have any info on a hotter thermostat?

thanks!!!
