I bought this rig last month (did not bay test so my fault) only ran on hose. Hopefully a Suzuki tech can help out. This is a tough one. Been trying to fix for month. 1999 DF50. The engine runs flawless until I reach over 4400 rpm's then it starts to break up and I get alarm and 2-4 code which is cam position sensor.
ok before I bought the factory suzuki gauge the other day ( and realized I was getting a code) I thought it was fuel so I
Cleaned VST tank and screen on high speed fuel pump. low speed filter, high speed filter, plugs, thermostat, water pump, tried a different portable 6 gallon tank, had injectors cleaned and tested to no avail, fuel pressure at 40psi no drop, then I bought the gauge. I installed new cam position sensor and same problem occurs. Tried a different cam position sensor just in case first new one was faulty. Funny thing is the engine broke up at lower rpm with the new one then cleared up and went to 5400rpm and smoothed out but alarm and light were still going off. So old sensor is back in and runs better with old one. Can run for hours at or below 4400 rpm, no alarms or codes. Thinking the ecm might be bad I installed a used one I picked up and again same exact problem. Service manual said if sensor is good it could be possible ECM failure which it is not. Any ideas? I have a used engine wire harness which I also got with the ECM but if a wire was bad it would act up I would think at different speeds and when I wiggle wires there is no difference.
here is video, running at 4400 rpm flawless, then I open it up, breaks up, wont go up to 5400 which is my max with this prop, alarm goes off 2 4 code, then I bring it back down to 4400 rpm it smoothes out alarm and light go off.
