I've seen some postings about shifting problems on Yamaha engines. I have a '90 115 hp engine that had a corroded shift rod. The mechanic said it would take a lot of hours and money to lower the powerhead and try to get the bolts off to change the old rod. Or I could walk away from the engines.
I found Shift Shaft on the web. It took me about 2 hours to change my old rod and I just lowered the carb, sawed off the old rod and installed the new one. My engine runs great. Check them out.
