I have a 89 115 Yamaha that I've noticed a ticking noise in this year that I am pretty sure wasn't there last year. It sounds like it's coming from the flywheel, but it's hard to say. I'm wondering if it's a symptom of an oil injection problem, maybe the filter is clogged? I think there is a pump up near the carbs too right? Maybe it's not oil, maybe it's timing or piston slap?! At first I thought it was just the shroud over the flywheel rattling, but it doesn't seem to be the issue.
