Hello again.
Recently bought a boat with a 1987 Suzuki DT30 (2 cylinder) motor.
I've been experiencing difficulty with the shifter. The motor shifts into forward and throttles up fine. When I try to shift into reverse or use the cold throttle lever things start to bind up and the shifter becomes inoperable.
I've taken the shifter apart, adjusted the linkages with no success.
I think I found my problem.
THE THROTTLE CABLE appears to be MISSING!
Can anyone confirm?
Where can I get one of these?
It's OK to PM me.
Thanks for your consideration.

OK
(talkin to myself again)
Just got off the phone with a Suzuki dealer.
Very nice guy (Duke).
He tells me that the cable is only for tiller setups.
Now I'm really confused.
Going to change out my throttle cable from the control box back.
I just want to go fishin but I'm turning myself into a Suzuki mechanic.
Man, I didn't want to do that.

Hey Rob!
Oh that's me. Talkin to myself again.
Changed out the throttle cable with a new one from West Marine.
Seems like that was the problem all along.
Why didn't one of the 80 people who viewed this thread tell me?
Maybe they're all just as confused and in the dark as I am?
Maybe I confused them?
Anyways, happy ending. Going fishing tomorrow.

I am glade you found your problem.
I would think not may on here have an old DT30, and with what you told us it sounded like you adjusted the cables so we thought you could tell if it was working properly.
