Yamaha digital gauge problem

I am replacing the digital tachometer gauge on my 1999 Yamaha 200 saltwater series. I Hooked everything up as per the instructions. Tach works fine! trim gauge not working( top light blinking) oil gauge not working (middle light blinking). The new Gage has three prongs which I set correctly the old Gage only had two prongs. The new Gage had an extra pink wire on the back which it said to disconnect because my motor was before 2004. Has any one else replaced an old gauge with a new gauge and can help me out on why mine may not be working correctly? Any help much appreciated.
