I have a 1999 Suzuki DT115. The OEM manual does not specify using any gasket sealing compound on the water pump gasket. My Evinrude 90hp OEM manual specifies it. Would it help or hurt? I usually use a very light coat of aviation gasket sealer on these gaskets, as well as on bolt threads.
Also, this particular Suzuki uses a solid SS pump housing. Should I use any sealer between the metal to metal of the housing to plate surface? My Evinrude is different- a plastic housing with ss insert cup. It uses an O-ring between housing and plate. Perhaps a good seal is not as important above the plate, being the pressure side, but is more critical below the plate because its the vacuum side? Only guessing.
