h20 pump Yamaha 200

I replaced the h20 pump with a oem kit (didn't replace the housing). Before the replacement the old pump was working good . Now the pee stream is weak and overheats. Upon inspection the "o" ring that goes on the bottom of the housing looks too thin and will not seal the housing against the wear plate. Anyone else experience this? I have the lower unit off 6 times trying to fix the problem.

Replace the oring, why would you replace the impeller and not the gaskets and orings that seal things. That's just asking for problems.

PS, not all 200 pumps are the same, engine model numbers are very helpful to answer questions accurately.

o rings were replaced. They came with the kit. 200txrp 1991.
