'89 40hp Yamaha 2 stroke: Replace Oil Tank Hoses with Fuel Line?

Hi, I'm new to the forum.

I have a '89 40hp Yamaha 2 stroke on a 15' Logic Marine (Triumph) center console that I bought last fall. It has an oil tank under the cover, like this one:

It appears water has gotten in the tank, and settled to the bottom. I'm going to remove the tank, empty the oil out of it... but the lines are very hard and brittle, so won't come off the barbs. I plan to just cut them off, but was wondering if I can just use regular clear fuel line to replace them? Will it hold up OK?

Thanks in advance.

I would think Yamaha sells the proper line for it
and I would stick to the stuff they recomend

Don't know if anyone sells it in your area but try to find some Tygon. It's a yellow chemical resistance line that we use for replacement.

I have a few feet of Tygon from another project -- my local NAPA carries it.

But I also have about 10 feet of polyurethane motorcycle fuel line too. I thought it might be a better choice.

You think the Tygon would be better?

Either would work but the Tygon will stay flexible longer.
