Yamaha 8hp enduro lower unit flushing port

Hello to all,

I am new to this site.

I have a Yamaha Enduro 8hp 2 stroke (year 2008) and was wondering whether I can start up the engine on idling speed after I connect the water hose direct to the flushing port located on the lower unit next to the gear oil drain plug. There is a plug which says 'wash'.
