My 225 tilt trim motor runs by its self in the down direction. The only way to stop it is to turn off the battery. when you turn the battery back on it works fine in both directions. This may happen again later in the day or it may not occur again for a week. Where is the relay, I can't find it in the parts lookup. I feel it must be a relay problem because it stops with the battery off like the relay is releasing.

Most of the time it is due to one of the tilt switches or the wiring, but it could be relay.

Might try disconnecting the switches one at a time to see if that will stop it from happening and use a volt meter to see if relay is getting a maintained signal keeping it energized before spending money on a relay

Switch the up and down relays and see if the problem moves to up.

That engine should only have one unit that houses both relays. Find the relay box and the two small brown wires coming out. When this happens again, unplug both at the bullet connector and see if it stops. If it does, it's a switch. If it doesn't, it the relays
