Voltmeter suddenly shows nothing....Fuse? or?

I have Yamaha F 20 on small skiff. Last time ran voltmeter acted perfectly normal, showed charging at speed, etc.
On startup yesterday shows absolutely nothing. Boat ran fine. Is there a fuse between x and voltmeter. Or not that simple?
Really appreciate any help before my goose chase starts.....Thanks!

I would get proper meter and test lighting coil output and rectifier/regulator output 1st as the service manual shows and if they put out to spec then start testing on down the line
