My 2004 Suzuki 250 will not return to idle from running speed. Usually it will go down to about 1800 to 2000 RPM and then I cannot pull the lever back beyond that point and it is still in gear. In order to shift into neutral I have to shut it off, pull the lever back and restart. Most of the time when I restart it will return to normal idle and shifting. The problem returns when I go into forward and boost the throttle to running speed and then try to return to idle. This motor has about 150 hours on it.

Incorrect or out of adjustment throttle cable, or faulty IAC motor. Either case bring to dealer before you stretch/break shift cable by forcing the engine out of gear.
